So last Sunday I went to watch a certain film that one could summarize as "The Navy In Space", aka "Star Trek". It wasn't bad, but I felt it needed work. Granted, it is an origin story, so they have some kinks to smooth out, and maybe the next film will be better (But PLEASE, keep Scotty the way he was. He's the best part of the film.)

Anyway, I got home from the event and, in the course of letting my mind wander (It has a ten foot long leash), I remembered that I'd read somewhere that Gene Roddenberry based Kirk off of one Mr. Hornblower. That got me wondering how the Horatio we saw in the Miniseries would have reacted to the Kirk as portrayed in this Film. I don't think he'd have been overly thrilled with Shatner's Kirk, but this one would have made him blow a gasket.

From there, It made me start thinking about who the characters from Hornblower most resembled, beginning, of course with the HTHS. It didn't take that long, as the original "Star Trek" has a canon Holy Trinity of it's own.

Awhile Back on LJ there was this game people played where they typed "Name looks like" (quotations are important)  on Google and posted the first five that came up into their journal. Well, there was a variation on the game where you type "Name needs to", and you chose the first 10.

Just for fun, I decided to do that game with the HTHS, both the characters themselves and the actors who played them. My rule: full name first, then just the first name if there wasn't enough.

And because I have a warped sense of humor, I added some commentary underneath.


Yeah, it's silly. But it's fun to do.

Well, after getting an account at Christmas, I am FINALLY posting something! I’m using this post to introduce myself and define some terms you'll see me using a lot. 

First, as you may notice from my icon, I bill myself as “High Priestess of the Ioanites”. I am by no means saying I am Ioan Gruffudd’s #1 fan. I only gave myself that title because I created the term “Ioanites”, which I hope will become the term for rabid Ioan fangirls (Hey, Jamie Bamber has the Bamber Bunnies, Ioan should have the Ioanites).

As you can guess, I am a RABID Ioan fangirl who mourns the loss of Hornblower. My posts shall primarily deal with Ioan news and general silliness. You can expect strange fics and macros from me, links to other people’s wonderful vids/pics/fics, and lots of general squeeing and ranting.
